Promethium is a radioactive lanthanide and the only radioactive element besides technetium that is followed by a elements with stable isotopes. Promethium-147 can be used in a nuclear battery which converts light into electricity.
It is recovered from byproducts of uranium fission, and can be produced by bombarding neodymium-146 with neutrons.
