Investing in Rubidium

Rubidium is an alkali metal and the second most electropositive of the stable alkaline elements. Its name comes from the reddish-violet color it gives to a flame. It is the 16th most abundant in the earth's crust, and is commercially extracted from the mineral lepidolite. Rubidium is also one of the six elements that are liquid near room temperature. The others are caesium, francium, gallium, mercury, and bromine.

Rubidium has been considered for use in a magnetohydrodynamic thermoelectric generator. Rubidium-87 vapor is commonly used in laser cooling and Bose-Einstein condensation.
